The city’s officials have taken swift action, increasing security patrols, and urging the public to maintain a safe distance from the area where the incident occurred. The enigmatic feline was last captured on CCTV footage, exiting the Nomura Mekki Fukuyama factory on a Sunday evening.
A startling discovery was made on Monday morning by an attentive worker: a trail of paw prints leading to a 3-meter-deep vat containing hexavalent chromium, a cancer-causing chemical known for inducing rashes and inflammation upon contact or inhalation.
Despite extensive neighborhood searches, the missing cat has yet to be found. The precise condition of the animal remains a mystery, as does its ultimate fate. A spokesperson from Fukuyama City Hall expressed concern and emphasized the urgency of the situation.
Akihiro Kobayashi, the manager of Nomura Mekki Fukuyama factory, shared that his staff had returned to work following the weekend only to find a torn sheet covering the vat containing hexavalent chromium. Since then, employees have kept watchful eyes out for any sign of the mysterious cat.
