Tallulah Willis Openly Shares Her Autism Diagnosis for the First Time: “It’s Changed My Life”

In a heartfelt and groundbreaking Instagram post over the weekend, actress Tallulah Willis, 30, shared her personal health update with her followers for the first time since being diagnosed with autism. The daughter of Hollywood legends Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, Tallulah posted a throwback video from her childhood featuring an endearing moment with her father at a red carpet event.

In the video, Bruce Willis holds a young Tallulah in his arms as he engages with reporters while she playfully rubs his bald head and tinkers with his ear. The caption of the post read, “Tell me your autistic without telling me your autistic.”

A fan commented on the post, expressing admiration and asking Tallulah to share more about her diagnosis if she felt comfortable doing so. In response, Tallulah wrote, “Actually, this is the first time I’ve ever publicly shared my diagnosis.”

She continued in the comments, “I was diagnosed this past summer and it’s changed my life. Autism, as many may know, is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that affects social communication and interaction. It also includes repetitive behaviors and resistance to change in routine.”

Autism encompasses a wide range of conditions, as Dr. Daniel Geschwind, the Gordon and Virginia Macdonald distinguished professor of human genetics, neurology, and psychiatry at UCLA, explained to News Finder last year. “I prefer to call it ‘the Autisms,’” he said, “because no two autistic children or adults are exactly alike despite sharing basic features.”

Tallulah Willis has been transparent about her personal struggles and triumphs in the past, including an essay she wrote for Vogue in May 2023 where she revealed her battles with anorexia nervosa, depression, addiction, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). She has also shared moments of her healing journey on social media, earning support and appreciation from followers and family members.

The youngest Willis sibling is known for her role in the FOX reality show “Stars on Mars.” She has maintained a close relationship with her father despite his public diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in February 2023. The entire family, including Demi Moore, has remained supportive and open about their experiences with the condition.
