Former Girlfriend of Jonathan Majors Files Lawsuit Alleging Physical and Verbal Abuse

More than six months after former Marvel actor Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in a 2023 incident, she has filed a lawsuit against him. The lawsuit accuses Majors of battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, malicious prosecution, and defamation. The case stems from a “pattern of pervasive domestic abuse that began in 2021 and extended through 2023,” according to the lawsuit.

Conviction and Sentencing

In March 2023, a New York jury found Majors guilty of one count of reckless assault in the third degree and a non-criminal charge of harassment in relation to a domestic dispute with Jabbari. Majors could face up to a year in prison for the assault conviction and a maximum of 15 days in jail and a $250 fine for the harassment violation. Sentencing was initially set for February but has been moved to April.

Denial and Defamatory Statements

The lawsuit alleges that Majors continued to deny committing acts of assault, even after being convicted. In an exclusive interview with ABC News’ Linsey Davis on January 8, 2023, Majors claimed that he had never put his hands on a woman. The lawsuit also accuses him of making defamatory statements against Jabbari and showing a “lack of remorse” for his actions.

Allegations of Abuse

The lawsuit alleges that Majors exhibited “concerning behaviors” as early as September 2021, and the first episodes of physical and verbal assaults occurred less than a year later. The lawsuit provides detailed accounts of several violent incidents, including one in July 2022 when Majors shoved Jabbari into the shower door and threw her body into the shower wall. In another incident in September 2022, he assaulted Jabbari and threw her against the hood of her car when she tried to leave.

Threats and Intimidation

The lawsuit also accuses Majors of threatening Jabbari’s life, holding her in a headlock and covering her mouth to prevent help from reaching her. In one instance, he hit her head against the marble floor while strangling her until she couldn’t breathe. When Jabbari told a member of Majors’ team about the incident, he texted her expressing concerns over the potential implications for his career if she went to the hospital or disclosed the assault.

False Counter-Complaint

After his arrest in March 2023, Majors filed a “knowingly false” criminal complaint against Jabbari, alleging that she had abused him. The Manhattan district attorney declined to prosecute the complaint due to a lack of prosecutorial merit.

Implications for Career

Following the December verdict against Majors, he was dropped from several projects. Marvel Studios announced that it would not be moving forward on any future projects with him. He will also no longer play basketball player Dennis Rodman in a proposed film.

Jabbari’s Resolve

“Grace Jabbari’s resolve has never wavered,” her attorney Brittany Henderson told News Finder. “She has shown tremendous bravery in her quest for accountability.” The lawsuit aims to shed light on the truth and bring Jabbari the finality and justice she deserves.
