Jerrod Carmichael’s Unexpected Friendship with Taylor Swift: From Private Jet Rides to Closest Buddies

Jerrod Carmichael, the star of HBO’s new original comedy docuseries “Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show,” shared an unexpected yet delightful tale about his newfound friendship with none other than the renowned artist, Taylor Swift. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Carmichael revealed how Swift’s invitation to a Kansas City Chiefs football game on her private jet had transformed their relationship.

Carmichael spoke about Swift with genuine admiration, expressing her intelligence and intrigue as reasons why she had become his closest pal. Jimmy Kimmel displayed a snapshot of the two engaging in conversation during the NFL game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills, held in January.

“Taylor Swift is my best friend,” Carmichael confirmed with a grin. “I mean, I’m not her best friend, but she’s absolutely my best friend.”

Carmichael couldn’t help but laugh as he jokingly replaced his former best friend with Swift. “I called up my old buddy and I said, ‘You know what? Taylor’s in now. You’re out. You never invited me on a jet to your game.’ It was a tough call, but I had to make it.”

During the interview, Carmichael shared his regrets about not inviting Swift to join him for conversations with his loved ones on his new docuseries. “I really wish I had asked her to be a part of my reality show,” he said, adding that he should have seized the opportunity when it presented itself.

Carmichael pondered over potential headlines for his announcement of their friendship, suggesting, “I won’t even get top-billing! They’ll say ‘Jerrod Carmichael: Taylor Swift’s Best Friend?’ That’s not quite the attention I was hoping for. I’d prefer something a bit more… attention-grabbing,” he quipped, before admitting, “But honestly, I do love her though.”

“The Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show” premieres on March 29, exclusively on HBO and Max. Both HBO and Max are part of Warner Bros. Discovery, along with News Finder.
