Four Suspects in Crocus City Concert Hall Attack Charged with Terrorism: A Closer Look at the Accused

The latest developments in the Crocus City concert hall attack case saw all four suspects brought before the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow on separate occasions on Sunday, March 31, 2019. Each defendant faced charges under part 3, provision “b” of article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code – a terrorist act punishable by up to life imprisonment.

The accused, Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, Saidakrami Rachabalizoda, Shamsidin Fariduni, and Mukhammadsobir Faizov, are all from Tajikistan. They had been in Russia on either temporary or expired visas at the time of the attack on March 24, which tragically took the lives of over 130 people.

The Basmanny District Court in Moscow granted the investigators’ motion for detention as a preventative measure, with all four men being remanded into pre-trial detention until May 22.

Closed hearings were held for each of the accused, with no members of the public allowed to attend, according to TASS reports citing the court’s press service.

As part of an ongoing effort to ensure public safety and security, France raised its terror alert level to its highest on March 31 following ISIS’s claim of responsibility for the attack.
