Two Separate Alleged Assault Incidents Lead to the Arrest of a Manhattan Resident

A disturbing series of events unfolded in New York City last week, leading to the arrest of a 50-year-old man named Clifton Williams on assault charges. According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), Williams is accused of physically attacking two individuals in separate incidents, one of whom is renowned Hollywood actor Steve Buscemi.

The NYPD shared that Williams was charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Assault in the Third Degree following these incidents. The first incident reportedly took place on May 8, when Williams allegedly punched a 22-year-old man on Third Avenue, near the vicinity of East 15th Street. The condition of the young victim is not currently known.

Just ten minutes before this incident, Williams is said to have violently assaulted another individual approximately 11 blocks away on the same avenue. In this case, the victim was none other than Steve Buscemi – an esteemed actor with an impressive filmography, including roles in “Reservoir Dogs” (1992) and “Fargo” (1996), as well as popular television shows like “Boardwalk Empire” and “30 Rock.”

According to the NYPD, Buscemi was strolling in midtown Manhattan when he encountered Williams. The assailant allegedly struck the actor in the face with great force. After sustaining injuries from this assault, Buscemi was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue for treatment. The hospital reported that he was admitted with bruising, swelling, and bleeding on his left eye.

Buscemi’s publicist shared that the actor is recovering well and appreciates everyone’s concern. In a statement to News Finder, they stated, “Steve Buscemi was another victim of a random act of violence in the city.” This unfortunate event marks yet another instance of unprovoked attacks on innocent individuals while they were simply walking the streets of New York City.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office shared that Williams is yet to be arraigned and no attorney information has been made available for him at this time. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Steve Buscemi has left an indelible mark on the film industry with his exceptional talent and versatility.

This incident is a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining public safety and fostering a sense of community to prevent such senseless acts of violence from occurring. The authorities continue to investigate these incidents, and we hope for a swift resolution and justice for the victims involved.
