Tragic Loss of Life and Devastation: The Aftermath of Heavy Floods in Afghanistan’s Ghor Province

Fifty lives have been claimed, and numerous individuals are reported missing following the catastrophic impact of heavy rainfall and flooding that hit Afghanistan’s Ghor province on a fateful Friday. According to the Ministry’s post, a disheartening 2,000 homes have been completely wiped out by the recent floods. Moreover, up to an estimated 4,000 additional homes sustained significant damage. The Ministry further reported that extensive damage was inflicted upon hundreds of hectares of agricultural land, not to mention the destruction of hundreds of bridges, culverts, dams, and a staggering number of productive and non-productive trees. Thousands of livestock also met their demise in this natural disaster.
